You Don’t Get Enough Rest
Early wrinkles and sagging of the skin may result from not getting enough ZZZs. This is partly due to the fact that your body produces more cortisol, a “stress hormone” that degrades the collagen that gives your skin its bounce and smoothness. Avoid using gadgets, alcohol, or caffeine right before bed, and try to establish a peaceful, quiet nighttime routine with consistent hours.
You’re a smoker.
In addition to increasing your risk of developing cancer, smoking can cause wrinkles and sagging skin earlier in life. Smoking reduces the blood flow that supplies your skin’s surface with vital nutrients like oxygen and may also cause your body to produce less collagen. Discuss with your physician how to overcome the habit.
You’re Too Much in the Sun
While some sunshine is beneficial, excessive UV exposure destroys skin collagen and may lead to an overproduction of the protein elastin. Your skin may begin to thicken and feel rough, and you may detect deep creases and a range of colors (age spots). Wear caps, long sleeves, and sunglasses to protect yourself if you must be in the sun. A “broad spectrum” sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater is what you should use.
